Mounttown Early Years' Service uses the Highscope curriculum in the service. HighScope is a quality approach to early childhood care and education which has been shaped and developed by research and practice over a forty year period. It identifies and builds on children's strengths, interests and abilities.
The HighScope curriculum is used internationally in a variety of settings including day care, créches, playgroups, nursery and primary schools.
The HighScope approach not only helps young children excel in language and cognitive learning but also promotes independence, curiosity, decision-making, cooperation, persistence, creativity, and problem solving — the fundamental skills that help determine success in adult life.
The Highscope Curriculum meets the four goals of the national Aistear Curriculum framework.
